Pastoral Care

Pastor Bob Lawson and members of the Church Council are available for pastoral care as needed. Pastoral care is generally for a short-term crisis, emergency or pastoral professional services such as counseling, prayer, and spiritual guidance, bereavement services, and visitations. Our pastoral staff is passionate about caring for you in your challenging times.

In addition to pastoral care, long-term care is available through our Stephen's Ministry program and, for shut-ins in need of visitation, our Deaconate ministry.

Deaconate

Our Deacons and Deaconess' provide care and support for our church family through visitation and prayer as well as managing the church's benevolence fund (Deacon Fund). Deacons are a Biblically ordained office and act as the service and caring arm of the church.  They assist with communion and offering collection in addition to their caring role.  You will often see them working hard to care for the congregation on Sunday morning. If you have any questions or needs, please e-mail them at deacons@hillsidelbc.org.

Stephen Ministry

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

Stephen Ministry at Hillside equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian, one-to-one care to anyone in our congregation or community who is going through a difficult time and in need of support from a Christian friend.

If you are in need of care or a Stephen's Minister, please contact Pastor Bob at bob@hillsidelbc.org

Family Promise

This ministry works in conjunction with the Family Promise of Morris County providing housing and food for those in need in the Morris County area. Family Promise meets twice a year at Hillside and requires many volunteers to love and care for people within the program. Their website is http://www.familypromisemorris.org

Elder Board

Although the Elder Board is primarily charged with teaching, prayer, and administration, you will find that our elders are often involved in caregiving ministries. Elders sometimes assist deacons and are always available to chat or meet with parishioners. You can reach them at elders@hillsidelbc.org
