Andrew Spotts, Chairman of the Congregation

Andrew was called to serve as an elder at Hillside in 2023. He is involved with the men's ministry at Hillside, and has previously served as the youth director for Hillside Church. Before serving as an elder, Andrew served on the Property and Finance Committee for several years. He is passionate about developing connections within Hillside and among our neighbors. Andrew grew up in Lancaster, PA and moved to Roxbury in 2008, where he currently resides with his wife, Katie and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Christopher Monaghan, Vice-Chairman

Chris was called to serve as an elder at Hillside in 2023 and has been involved in the life of the church since 2015. He co-leads the Family Matters ministry, and he enjoys teaching Confirmation and periodically the Sprouts children's ministry. Chris lives in Mount Olive with his wife, Kristin, and their three school-aged daughters. They enjoy spending time outdoors, vacationing at the shore, skiing, and cheering on their favorite baseball and college basketball teams.
Chris finds deep joy in serving both the church and the wider community. He is devoted to growing in his own walk with Christ and seeks to help others recognize and embrace the hope and grace found in the redemptive love of Jesus.
Scott Dunsmore

Scott was called to serve as an elder at Hillside in 2007. He serves in various Confirmation and adult teaching roles, including Stephen Ministry training. Scott also serves as one of the lay representatives for the Eastern Region on the Church Council of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. Scott is a lifetime resident of Roxbury and is a vice president for a national EHS compliance training company, based in Sparta, NJ. He and his wife, Melissa, have one grand daughter and three adult daughters that are scattered along the east coast. In his spare time, he likes DIY projects and improving his woodworking skills.
Kevin Cullen

Kevin was called to serve as an elder in 2025. He, his wife Alisa, and their daughters were drawn to Hillside because of its faithful preaching of the Gospel, reliance on Biblical truth, and the community in the church who reflect the love of Christ. Originally from Garwood, NJ, Kevin has spent the past 25+ years as a local middle school history teacher, residing in Mount Olive. He has shared his gifts of teaching at Hillside filling in to lead Sunday School classes and preaching. In his free time, Kevin enjoys reading, writing, following baseball (Let's Go Mets!), and never turns down an invitation for a good cup of coffee.
Vinnie Sottile

As an elder at Hillside Church, Vinnie is committed to shepherding the body of Christ through prayer, Scripture, and Gospel-centered leadership. His heart is to see the church rooted in God's Word and growing in faith and love.
He also serves as Hillside's Music Director, planning worship and leading our annual Christmas production - a creative expression of the Gospel through music and storytelling. Vinnie works bi-vocationally as a nurse and is husband to Katie and dad to 3 children he adores, Liam, Elise, and Lucia!

Kevin Verbeke

Kevin joined the Hillside Church Council as an elder in 2016. Prior to being an elder, he served as a deacon for 12 years. Kevin has been an integral part of the Christian education program at Hillside, teaching children's Sunday school, adult Christian education and Confirmation.
Kevin was born and raised in Clifton, NJ, and moved to Succasunna after he married his wife, Karen, who grew up at Hillside Church. Together, they have 3 adult daughters, one living in Philadelphia and the other two are still living here in Succasunna. Kevin enjoys listening to music, watching good movies, going to favorite restaurants and hanging our with family and friends at home.
Qualifications for, and role of, Elder at Hillside:
1 Peter 5:
1 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed:
2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers - not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;
3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
